Twilight

I hate movies about vampires! Twilight is an obvious exemption. Singapore's terribly late in having the movie available in theatres. Good thing, Jay and I headed to Malaysia for some Christmas shopping. I insisted on ending my curiosity about the movie.

As much as I would like to give credit to Stephanie Meyer (writer of Twilight saga), I would rather give my applauses to Catherine Hardwicke (director). The movie has less conversation (which for me was unexpected), but Hardwicke was able to make the audience understand love, obsession and relationship thru eye contacts. In the rarity of verbal communication, the lines that every character delivered truly made a mark. Cinematography's equally awesome!

I never expected Kristen Stewart (who was in Amityville) to be as gorgeous as she was in this movie. This is also a big break for Robert Pattinson, who played as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last 2005. Hardwicke also brought up a good romance between Stewart and Pattinson, aside from their good chemistry on cam. Stewart barely smile. At first, I was afraid that she might be like Vanessa Hudgens in Highschool musical who looks the same when she cries and smiles. Yet, the story was able to define angles on how she would successfully portray facial expressions per emotion. The choice of actors and actresses was amazing, except for Jacob (Taylor Lautner) as for my opinion. I agree that his looks are meant for a wolf-descendant, but I'm not sure if he can keep up with the saga's story as soon as New Moon's released. I mean, I can't imagine “Bella or Stewart” falling in love with “Jacob or Lautner” if the characters remained the same. Comparing Lautner from Pattinson's a no-brainer thing. Thus, Bella's choice of Edward over Jacob is more likely to be predicted in Eclipse (sorry to spoil the excitement). Competition in physique and beauty will stir me up in watching New Moon. I just hope that the actor who'll portray Jacob in the second saga can be a lot more ravishing.

Twilight is impeccably a big hit! It's impossibly real! Impossible-- since I haven't heard of a real vampire roaming around the streets. Real-- since the conveyance of emotions, of addiction, of obesession, of “love” is exquisite. Cheers to Twilight! More hopes for New Moon!
